The BEAM platform will be a novel bacteriophage-mediated system for the production and packaging of our DNA ministrings. The filamentous phage M13 has been demonstrated in numerous targeting and drug delivery applications. Our goal is to use M13 to create a new gene delivery vehicle.

Phage proteins self-assemble around ministring molecules to form individual virion particles, the "BEAM unit". This simplifies and coalesces both production and packaging into a one step in vivo process. Filamentous phage virion particles bud out from host E. coli cells and can be collected easily and efficiently. The first application of this technology will be against ovarian cancer.  Find out about the researcher: Shirley.
